Chihiro Kaneko tossed 38 pitches in the bullpen today -- 19 to a standing catcher and 19 to a squatting catcher. This was Kaneko's first bullpen session during spring camp. Kaneko told reporters that while he was feeling fine, he wasn't entirely satisfied with the results of the session. He then added that his goal for the current season was to pitch 200 innings.
Akinobu Okada checked out the Ni-gun players today.
US-based consultant George Foster arrived in Miyakojima today. Foster has been providing the Buffaloes with his advice on players in the US the team have interest in. Foster is currently in Japan to talk about the Buffaloes long term goals for the international market.
Chan Ho Park made the following comments to the media yesterday:
Are you all here today because I'm Chan Ho Park? If you are, I'd like to ask that you cover me not as Chan Ho Park the individual, but as the Orix Buffaloes' Chan Ho Park.
I can control what opposing players do, but I can prepare myself by working on my control. The more money you make, the more responsibilities you have. I'm preparing myself in order to make good on my responsibilities.
I'm not here to succeed in Japan as a former major leaguer, I want to do my best to get accustomed to the Japanese culture and do well in Japan.
