Hideki Matsui took 62 swings during soft-toss BP yesterday.  For Matsui, it was the first time he swung the bat this year.  And compared to last year, when he didn't swing the bat until 2/20 (21st in Japan), he's about 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka arrived in Fort Myers on Saturday and said, "I'm happy to be in such a warm place.  I will begin practicing tomorrow."

Before leaving Minneapolis, Nishioka managed to find a place to live and even started driving.

Koji Uehara left for the US out of Narita airport today.

Said Uehara, "I'm looking forward to winning the role as closer.  I won't be changing my pitching style.  Fastball, fork.  It's about how to improve my control.  I won't change my hairstyle either.  I'm continuing to grow my sideburns."
