Eri Yoshida gives up 7 ER over an inning of work

by on Feb.06, 2011 @ 5:00 pm, under Other

Eri Yoshida didn't do very well in her start against the Saskatchewan Silver Sox on Saturday (BTW: thanks to bbdad for the heads up).

Yoshida's line: 1 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 3 HBP, 11 BF

1st inning - 5 runs

HBP, single, HBP, 2-run double, strikeout, 2-run double, RBI double, ground out, ground out

2nd inning - 2 runs

walks, HBP, Yoshida is taken out of the game.

I’m in agreement with other posters: Ms. Yoshida should get a new agent and work on her game in Japan for a while longer– unless this is less about playing baseball well and more about generating revenue from publicity. There is something to be said for a steep learning curve and immersion, but confidence is everything for a Pitcher. I, like so many others, wish her well, but also deeply hope she does not do damage to the perceptions of female baseball players trying to rise through the ranks here in America.
