Orix Buffaloes Spring Camp News and Notes: February 6, 2011

This post will be updated throughout the day.

Mike Hessman worked out at first base today.  With Hirotoshi Kitagawa down with an injury, Akinobu Okada is looking for a viable first base option.  Seung-Yeop Lee could take first, but he'll also be DH'ing.  If Hessman can show that he's capable of playing at first, that would give him that much of a better shot at making the active roster.

62 Ichi-gun and Ni-gun Orix players (excluding the foreigners) gathered at Miyakojima Stadium today for a baseball clinic that 10 teams (made up of elementary school players) attended (about 200 people in all).

Chan Ho Park learned how to throw the fork from Hiroshi Kisanuki.

A kakigori stand opened up at Miyakojima Stadium today.

It was one year ago yesterday that Hiroyuki Oze plunged to his death.  The Buffaloes' held a moment of silence before the start of spring camp on 1/31, but it seems they didn't do anything special yesterday.
