by on Feb.06, 2011 @ 3:02 pm, under NPB

This post will be updated throughout the day.

===== 2/6 @ 10:45pm

Masanori Ishikawa threw 158 pitches in the bullpen today.  Ishikawa actually had to cut the session short because of a blister on his right big toe.

Yamada took 38 swings during BP today (Nikkan Sports mentions 44) and hit 5 over the fence.  Wakamatsu also gave Yamada tips on how to use his lower body more effectively.

The Swallows (as a team) held a baseball clinic for 15 local little league teams today (about 300 people).

===== 2/6 @ 3:02pm

Tsutomu Wakamatsu began his stint as a temporary batting coach at Urasoe today.

The media learned yesterday that Tetsuto Yamada (1st round), Nariaki Kawasaki (6th round) and a number of other rookies will be joining the Ichi-gun group for practice today and on the 9th (Ni-gun day off).  They will also have a chance to play in the two intra-squad practice games scheduled on 2/11 and 2/12.  The Swallows are planning on promoting up to 4-5 players based on the results of the two games and some of the players could end up being in that group.

During BP yesterday, Yamada took 26 swings and hit 3 over the fence.

Yuki Shichijo (2nd round) went site-seeing around Urasoe, Okinawa by himself on his day-off yesterday.  He visited a shrimp farm and also dropped by Blue Seal Ice Cream, where he got the owner to agree to add a Shichijo Parfait to the menu if he wins the RoY award this year.
