The Lions Ichi-gun roster has the day off today.

===

G.G. Sato worked out for about 2 hours (mostly weight training) on his day off today.  Sato jokingly told reporters that this was pretty much the only way he was going to make the newspaper headlines.

===

The first four spots in the rotation are more or less filled with Hideaki Wakui, Takayuki Kishi, Kazuyuki Hoashi, and Kazuhisa Ishii.  The final two spots are up in the air, but could include Tatsuya Oishi (1st round) and Yusei Kikuchi.  Other possible starters include: Fumiya Nishiguchi, Ming-Chieh Hsu, Masamitsu Hirano, Ryoma Nogami, and Fumikazu Kimura.

===

A little more on Oishi's 134-pitch bullpen session yesterday: he started showing signs of fatigue after about 90 pitches; Hisanobu Watanabe advised Oishi to "relax your upper body and focus on your lower body" while throwing the ball; Ginjiro, his catcher from the session, said that Oishi started showing fatigue around his 100th pitch.

===

Pitching coach Takehiro Ishii on why Kazuhisa Ishii was able to throw 205 pitches in his bullpen session yesterday:

Kazuhisa has very little unneeded movement [in his delivery]; he knows how to throw a lot of pitches.

===

Kikuchi threw 66 pitches in the bullpen yesterday.  Kikuchi struggled with his control a little and had some problems with his off-speed pitches, but otherwise threw the ball -- Kikuchi told reporters he was satisfied with his fastball.  Watanabe told reporters he was just happy to see Kikuchi throwing again.
