This post will be updated throughout the day.

===== 2/10 @ 9:36pm

The Tigers submitted their 28-man protected player list to the Chiba Lotte Marines today.  Marines' operating director Akira Ishikawa told reporters that there was a player (or players) they were interested in.

===

Kai-Wen Cheng faced 6 batters during situational BP today and gave up 1 hit and struck out two.  He managed to strikeout Takashi Toritani on an outside two-seamer and got Keiichi Hirano to ground into a double play with runners on first and second.

===

Daiki Enokida (1st round) faced 6 batters during situational BP today and did not allow a hit while striking out 2.

===

Jason Standridge faced Matt Muton and Takahiro Arai during BP today and threw 37 pitches (including his off-speed pitches) while giving up 4 could-be hits.

===

Yasutomo Kubo threw 44 pitches during BP today and gave up 4 could-be hits.  He faced batters like Toritani and Hirano.

===

Kyuji Fujikawa started throwing in the bullpen again today -- he threw 28 pitches to a squatting catcher.

===== 2/10 @ 1:22pm

Akinobu Mayumi told reporters yesterday that he wasn't planning on any immediate promotions / demotions and would probably wait to make any decisions until the Ichi-gun team moved to Aki, Kochi on the 181th.

Mayumi's press conference with the media was actually cut short yesterday due to a fire alarm going off.  Mayumi was playing golf at a country club yesterday before sitting down with reporters to answer some questions.  But before the interview could really take off, the fire alarm sounded and the interview was cut short.  The media later found out that the alarm went off because they had overcooked a steak.

===

Masashi Nohara spent about 30 minutes in the batting cages yesterday during his day off.

Said Nohara, "Honestly, I've been having a lot of trouble with my hitting so far during spring camp.  It wasn't until yesterday that I started getting a feel for it, so I wanted to come in today to check on a few things."

===

Ken Nishimura did some stretches and exercises (in order to keep his body loose) yesterday morning at Aki Stadium.  He also told reporters that he was looking forward to Kenji Jojima's return.

===

And speaking of Jojima, it seems he will be able to starting catching pitchers (standing for now) at some point during the third block of spring camp (which began today).

Said Jojima, "I received permission to catch bullpen sessions so long as I'm standing.  So this would be able about getting used to the speed of the ball.  I also need to get my mitt ready. ... I'd like to try and catch pitchers I know, like [Hirotaka] Egusa, Nishimura, and [Takumi] Akiyama."

Jojima also added that catching bullpens can also help him with his hitting because he'll be looking at live pitches.

So beginning from the third block, Jojima will begin to take fielding practice, batting practice, and catch bullpen sessions.

===

Katsuhiko Saka took the entire day off yesterday to rest.

===

Shunsuke Fujikawa's pride as an outfielder is riding on his competition with Saka for the CF job.

Said Fujikawa, "Saka was originally an infielder, I've been an outfielder all this time.  I don't want to get beat out defensively, I can't get beat out."

===

Kyuji Fujikawa also spent the day relaxing yesterday and told reporters that he planned to toss a bullpen session if he was feeling fine.

===

The Tigers will not only be using the new baseball during their practice games that begins the 13th (vs Yakult) but will also be using thew new rosin bags (also made by Mizuno).

===

Akihito Fujii's Sanspo Tigers' Promise: to get a hero interview at Koshien at least once during the season.  If he can't keep his promise, he'll be a Sanspo reporter for a day.  If he keeps his promise, Sanspo will award Fujii with some children's clothing.

A restaurant named Corallo, located in the team hotel, Moon Beach, has added a new item to their "hidden" menu called the Big Burger.  The menu was specially created for Craig Brazell and Matt Murton and features a burger that's 20 centimeter in diameter.  Each burger is hand made (the patty and the bun) and carries a tag of 500 yen per meal.  The two players apparently order the burgers once every 2 days (Murton seems to like up-sizing his fries for an additional 100 yen).
