Tony Blanco hit homers in two consecutive situational BP at bats today.

Blanco told reporters that hit goal this season was to hit a bunch of home runs and win the HR title.

Ni-gun manager Kazuki Inoue apologized to fans that came out to watch practice today at Yomitan after rain moved most of the sessions indoors.

Wei-Ying Chen complained of tightness in his leg and cut his practice session short yesterday.  According to an unnamed team rep, Chen felt some tightness in his leg after taking grounders on the secondary field and was taken to the trainer's room.  Chen was supposed to toss BP yesterday, but that was canceled.  He was also supposed to do some running in the afternoon.  That too was canceled.

Before leaving the training grounds, Chen told reporters that he did pitch because he felt his balance wasn't good.  When asked if he was hurt, he said that that wasn't the problem and that he was ok.  But today, his name was not on the general practice list.

Tony Blanco arrived at practice early yesterday in order to get in some extra work in right.  Blanco also made a diving catch at one point (on the 28th ball that OF / base-running coach Seiji Tomashino hit).  And it seems the session was cut short because the coaches were worried Blanco was pushing himself too hard (in other words, they were concerned he might hurt himself).

This was actually Blanco's second straight day of taking extra fielding practice.  And during BP later in the day, he got some hitting tips from Motonobu Tanishige.  Seems the addition of Joel Guzman has made Blanco take a more proactive approach to his training.
