Saito ended his workouts early today: after tossing his bullpen, he did some trunk strengthening exercises and return to the team hotel at around noon. Before leaving, Saito told reporters he was excited about his scheduled outing tomorrow.

Saito threw 44 pitches in the bullpen today (from the set position and next to Brian Wolfe and Hisashi Takeda).
The media learned yesterday that the Fighters will not demote Saito at any time during the month of February, even other players will be judged beginning with today's practice games against the Hiroshima Carp.
Nikkan Sports asked Saito was he did with all the advice he receives from coaches and baseball analysts. His response:
I listen to everything people tell me. And then I decide which advice to listen to and which advice I should just let go. If I listened to everything people told me, I wouldn't last very long. ... It's all about results. Even if my delivery looks bad, I think it's the best one for me. That's what individuality is about. Just because this person can do it, doesn't me I can pitch the same way."
Yu Darvish also told reporters yesterday that he felt Saito was smart enough to withstand the criticisms made by the press.
For practice yesterday, Saito played some catch and did some weight training after morning warm-ups. He closed things out at around 12:30pm.
