The Swallows' Ni-gun roster has the day off today.
===== 2/15 @ 10:07pm
Ishikawa and Shohei Tateyama tossed BP today and faced two batters each: Ishikawa threw 48 pitches and Tateyama threw 55 pitches.
Tatsuyoshi Masubuchi threw 203 pitches in the bullpen today.
Yoshinori Sato threw 126 pitches in the bullpen today -- 23 pitches to a standing catcher and 103 pitches to sitting catcher. Yoshinori also threw a new two-seamer and later told reporters that he was still in the early stages of throwing the ball.
===== 2/15 @ 4:49pm
Norichika Aoki took 111 swings during lunchtime BP today and hit 14 over the fence.
Aoki - "I swung with hitting home runs in mind. If you have a solid swing with good balance, the ball will carry. I put in 100% of effort. My progress is just like every year. I'm doing well."
And a little more on the tweaks Aoki is making to his swing:
Special temporary batting coach Tsutomu Wakamatsu felt that Aoki's bat head was pointing down a little too much. In order to correct this, Aoki went from swinging the bat with the base of his left thumb area to using the base of his index finger. Wakamatsu also suggested that Aoki swing the bat while thinking about the base of big toe on his left leg -- in other words, use more of the lower body when swinging the bat.
Masanori Ishikawa is currently slated to make a start during a practice game against the Nippon Ham Fighters on the 20th.
The Swallows announced today that they will be charging 500 yen for infield seats to their practice game against the Yokohama Bay Stars on the 19th. Proceeds from the game will be donated to the Miyu Kaname Fund. Tickets will go on sale on the day of the game, beginning at 9am at Urasoe Stadium.
