The Bay Stars have the day off today.

=== 2/16 @ 12:32am

Brent Leach worked out on his day off today (played some catch, did some running).  Leach missed a scheduled appearance during situational BP on the 13th due to pain in his left hip joint.  He told reporters today that he was feeling much better.  Leach is scheduled to toss a bullpen tomorrow (2/16).

Pitching coach Atsushi Yoshida, Leach's  partner while playing catch, said, "It seemed like he had a good feel for the ball.  He was able to use his entire arm, was able to run dashes and come to complete stops.  Seems like he's ok.  Let's see how he does in the bullpen now."

Shogo Yamamoto threw his name into the hat for opening day starter yesterday.

Yamamoto - "If one lefty is added to the list of potential opening day starters, that could change the way the opponent approaches the game.  Of course, it's also something I want to shoot for. ... And if it's creating fake news about starting, you can leave it up to me.  I did something similar during inter-league play last season...  I worked hard in preparing for starts and over the course of a week the media had me pegged as a possible start 4 times."

Yamamoto also threw 53 pitches in the bullpen yesterday.
