This post will be updated throughout the day.

Yesterday's intra-squad game:

Hayato Shoji started at second and batted second (in place of Akihiro Higashide) for the reds.  He went 2-for-3 with an RBI: HBP, fly out to left (with the bases loaded and 2 out), RBI single to left, single.

Takahiro Iwamoto batted third for the reds.  He collected 3 hits and 2 RBIs.

Kenta Maeda faced four batters during BP today (including Tomonori Maeda and Yoshiyuki Ishihara) and threw 50 pitches (resulting in 40 swings) while allowing 9 could-be hits.  Maeda only threw his fastball and curve and topped out at 139km/h.

The Shobara City Carp Supporters Corp visited the Carp spring camp training grounds in Nichinan today and gave players and staff a chance to sample their Shobara Yaki dish (fried rice).  The group will try to sell the dish during Shobara Day at Mazda Stadium this year.

Akihiro Higashide was supposed to play in yesterday's intra-squad game but was held out of the line-up due to stiffness in his right shoulder.  It appears it was nothing more than sleeping on the shoulder wrong, but the club will keep an eye on Higashide to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Special temporary pitching coach Hideo Nomo apparently approached Yuya Fukui (1st round) yesterday and told the rookie that if he wanted to pitch more, he should speak up.  Fukui reportedly replied by saying that he wanted to gradually increase the number of pitches he threw in the bullpen as he got chances to pitch in games.
