Today's practice game against the SK Wyverns:

The Dragons beat the Wyverns, 11-1.

Daisuke Yamai started the game and threw 2 shutout innings while giving up 2 hits.  Yamai had a good start, striking out two consecutive batters in the first inning.  Things didn't go quite so well in the second inning -- after giving up consecutive hits with 1 out, Yamai hit the next batter in the head to load the bases.  And if not for a good play Atsushi Fujii in center, the Wyverns probably would have scored some runs against him.

Takuya Asao entered the game in the 9th and gave up a run over an inning of work -- he hit the first batter he faced, walked the second batter, and then got three ground ball outs.  He also topped out at 148km/h.

===== 2/19 @ 9:31pm

Daisuke Yamai threw 238 pitches in the bullpen after his outing today.  Yamai ended up throwing over 300 pitches between his outing and the bullpen.

Akifumi Takahashi is currently working out at Ni-gun spring camp due to discomfort in his left shoulder.  That could give other pitchers like Toshiya Okada, Ryuya Ogawa, Shinji Iwata, and Junki Ito a chance to step up.

===== 2/19 @ 2:30pm

Masahiro Araki spent about 80 minutes taking extra fielding practice after general practice yesterday.  General coach Hatsuhiko Tsuji had club officials record the session once Araki started showing improvement (about an hour into the session).  Araki is currently working on making his fielding movements smoother (from fielding the ball to transferring the ball to his throwing hand and to throwing the ball).

Takuya Asao threw 5 "Kazuhiro Sasaki" forks during his 41-pitch bullpen session yesterday.  And it seems Motonobu Tanishige advised Asao to approach Kazuhiro Sasaki on the day of their practice game against the LG Twins.
