Today's intra-squad game:

Wei-Chu Lin was the starting DH and batted 4th for the red team.  He hit 2 doubles in the game.

Takuya Takahama started at third and batted 7th for the red team.  He went 3-for-3.

Akihito Fujii entered the game in the 3rd and caught Tatsuya Kojima.

The second leg of spring camp began with a ceremony at the secondary field at 9:30am.

===

The Tigers held a staff meeting at the team hotel last night.  And Akinobu Mayumi told reporters that the coaches decided to give Takuya Takahama a good look during the three intra-squad games they have scheduled (2/19 thru 2/21).

===

Daiki Enokida (1st round) will be starting an intra-squad game on the 20th.  Enokida helped himself when retired all 6 batters he faced during situational BP on the 10th and then followed that up with a shutout inning in relief during a practice game against the Yakult Swallows on the 13th.

What batting coach Yutaka Wada would like to see from his younger hitters:

"I'd like to see them swinging the bat from the first strike they see.  It becomes a lot harder to hit the ball when you behind in the count.  Batters can think about how they want to approach a pitcher when they're sitting in the dugout or waiting in the on-deck circle.  The group at Aki (Ni-gun) will also be joining up so it's going to be a fight to see who is standing during the next three [intra-squad] games we have."

===

Kenji Jojima will be traveling back to Osaka with the Ni-gun team when Ni-gun camp ends on the 22nd.  That means he only has a limited amount of time to show how much progress he has made.

Jojima is also scheduled for a check-up on the 24th in Osaka.

As of yesterday, Tomoyuki Kubota was scheduled to toss a bullpen session today.  But he won't be making any appearances in any of the upcoming intra-squad games.  Pitchers that will be staying behind with the Ichi-gun group will need to be able to pitch during games on the 26th and 27th.  Since Kubota's status is up in the air, there's a good chance he will be returning to Osaka on the 22nd as well.

Atsushi Nomi and Yasutomo Kubo's Sanspo Tigers' Promise: see which pitcher can collect more hits this season.  Winner will get a 50,000 yen gift certificate while the loser will need to give away some memorabilia.

Nikkan Sports is carrying an article of how Kana Uemura and Fumiya Araki (5th round) both believe in the toilet god (トイレの神様) -- Uemura was told by her grandmother that cleaning toilets will help her become beautiful; Araki feels that all the toilet cleaning he did while at college helped him get to the pros.  It also happens to be the name of a song Uemura became famous for last year.
