Kazuki Fukuchi tweaked his left calf while running the bases during today's practice game and was later diagnosed with a minor calf strain.  He will require at least 2 weeks for a full recovery.

Special temporary batting coach Tsutomu Wakamatsu's approach to hitting: while using the balls of your feet as a reference point, you move into the swing with your adductor muscles, knees, and your hips / waist.  Wakamatsu also feels that the lower body is the basis for a strong foundation in everything you do in baseball, like fielding, throwing, and running.  And it seems, from his experience, a lot of the younger players aren't paying enough care and attention to developing their lower bodies properly.
