Junichi Tazawa threw 20 pitches off the mound on the 19th (with the catcher a little closer to the mound than usual) -- 10 pitches from the wind and 10 pitches from the set position.
Tazawa - "I had fun. I was able to throw close to how I usually throw, so I'm feeling a bit relieved. ... After getting the operation I spent my days doing the same stuff over and over. That I've come this far from that makes me think that none of it went to waste.
Ichiro Suzuki took 36 swings during BP on the 19th and hit 13 over the fence. Before practice, Eric Wedge held an hour long team meeting.
Ichiro's practice on the 18th included running, playing catch, long distance throws (about 80 meters), and indoor BP (39 swings).
FWIW: as mentioned yesterday, Ichiro's fat content was reportedly measured at around 6%. The average fat content for MLB outfielders is apparently 11%.
According to Nikkan Sports, Masao Matsui (Matsui's father) already dropped by the Oakland A's Spring Training complex and spoke to Bob Geren. Seems elder Matsui told Geren that the younger Matsui was feeling physically great and might even be able to steal a base.
Hiroki Kuroda threw 50 pitches in the bullpen on the 19th (Rod Barajas caught the session). Don Mattingly also stepped into the batter's box partway through the session.
Kosuke Fukudome spent about 2 hours doing light exercises on the 19th. After general practice, he stayed back and worked on his hitting indoors (due to the rain) for about 40 minutes.
