by on Feb.20, 2011 @ 11:08 am, under NPB

This post will be updated with information as it becomes available so keep checking back if you have any interest in Yuki Saito.

===== 2/20 @ 2:10pm

Saito's practice schedule today included playing catch and light running.

Saito - "I was able to throw the ball harder during catch today than yesterday.  I was also able to eat a regular meal.  I'd like to try and toss a bullpen session either tomorrow or the day after that.

===== 2/20 @ 12:03pm

Saito was at the stadium this morning as usual and met with pitching coach Masato Yoshii in order to work out his practice schedule for the day.

Incidentally, the practice game against the Yakult Swallows was called due to rain.

===== 2/20 @ 11:08am

Saito went to the hospital after watching the first inning of yesterday's practice game (sometime around 1:15pm).  He had already finished doing most of his scheduled workouts, but still had some running to do.

At the hospital, Saito was told by doctors that the stomach pains were probably due to accumulated stress and was given an IV (likely vitamins) as part of his treatment.

It was past 4pm when he returned to the team hotel.  The running he was scheduled to do was canceled.  When Masataka Nashida was informed of what happened, he decided on the spot that Saito wouldn't be starting today's practice game against the Yakult Swallows.

Since the throwing schedule for the team's remaining practice games have already been set (for the most part), Saito probably won't be able to pitch until the 26th (exhibition game vs Lotte).
