Today's intra-squad game:
The whites beat the reds, 5-1 (9 innings).
Yoshihisa Naruse started the game for the whites and did not allow a run over 2 innings of work. Naruse faced a total 7 batters and gave up 1 hit.
Shunsuke Watanabe entered the game in the 3rd for the whites and gave up 1 run on 1 hit over 2 innings of work. The lone run Watanabe allowed came on a solo homer by Ryusuke Minami.
Takashi Ogino started at short and batted second for the reds. Ogino managed to steal his first base in about 9 months and also collected a hit in his third at bat.
Yesterday's intra-squad game:
The reds beat the whites, 17-9 (8 innings).
Combined, the two team scored 26 runs, banged out 35 hits, and walked 12 times.
Yasutaka Hattori was the 5th pitcher used by the white team and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits over an inning of work (he faced a total 10 batters).
Saburo was the starting DH and batted 3rd for the reds. He went 3-for-5 (including a grand slam) with 5 RBI.
Atsushi Kobayashi (3rd round) threw 112 pitches in the bullpen today. This coming on the heels of allowing 8 runs over 2 innings of work during yesterday's intra-squad game.
Yasutaka Hattori complained of pain in his left flank during yesterday's intra-squad game and was later taken to the hospital and diagnosed with bruising of the intercostal muscle (左肋間筋挫傷). Hattori was sent back to Tokyo Today for further examination.
