Yakult Swallows Spring Camp News and Notes: February 24, 2011

Today's practice game against the Rakuten Eagles:

The Swallows beat the Eagles, 5-2.

Masato Nakazawa started the game and gave up 2 runs on 9 hits over 4 innings of work.

Chang-Yong Lim entered the game in the 5th inning and pitched a shutout inning in relief.  He did not give up a hit and struck out 2.

Wladimir Balentien started in right and batted 6th.  He hit 2 homers -- solo shot to left-center in the 2nd off Hiroshi Katayama and a 2-run shot to left in the 6th off Shinya Okamoto.

Josh Whitesell, batting 4th, hit a solo shot in the 6th off Okamoto.

Yesterday's practice game against the Hanwha Eagles:

Yoshinori Sato apparently topped out at 154km/h.  He also hit 150 or better on the speed gun 12 times (out of a total 36 pitches) -- 7 times in the first (including 154); 2 times in the second; and 3 times in the third.  Yoshinori threw his new two-seamer 5 times.

Chang-Yong Lim told reporters after his outing against the Rakuten Eagles today that he needed to work on his fork because it wasn't dropping as much with the new baseball.
