Daily Sports reports that the Iwate High School Baseball Federation informed the media today that Ichinoseki Gakuin High School baseball club was involved in a gang beating incident while taking part in the Prefectural Tournament in July last year. The high school went on to win the tournament and took part in the Summer Koshien last year.
According to Iwate High School Baseball Federation, on July 24th five first-year students ganged up and beat another male student in their grade by hitting and kicking him in places like the face.
The school reported the incident to the Iwate High School Baseball Federation on 2/28 this year but did not provide a reason for the delay in reporting the incident and also did not provide information on what became of the five first-year students. The Iwate High School Baseball Federation added that any time a player is punished, high schools are required to file a report with the Federation.
Ichinoseki Gakuin High School is apparently not providing the media with any comments at this time.
