Hirokazu Sawamura's (1st round) will be starting an exhibition game on the 12th against the Orix Buffaloes (at Kyocera Dome). Until then, Sawamura will remain at Giants Stadium to continue his training (he likely won't be doing any traveling with the team until the 12th).
It appears part of the reason for that is because the Giants are thinking of giving Sawamura a regular season start on the 27th (third game of the season, vs Yokohama Bay Stars at Tokyo Dome). That means Sawamura will also most likely get another exhibition game start on the 20th (vs Chiba Lotte Marines at Tokyo Dome).
The team decided yesterday that Yoshitomo Tani, Shigeyuki Furuki, Ryuichi Kajimae, and Taishi Ota will not be traveling with the team to Sapporo and will instead continue their training down at Ni-gun. Ota will also probably get some playing time in the Ikusei League.
Shinya Miyamoto suffered a contusion on his right hand when he fouled a ball off of it during his first at bat as a pinch-hitter on the 2nd. He is expected to return to the starting line-up on the 11th (exhibition game vs Yokohama at Yokohama Stadium).
Takahiro Iwamoto collected 3 hits and 6 RBIs during an exhibition game against the Chunichi Dragons yesterday -- with the bases loaded and 2 out in the third, he hit a bases-clearing double to left-center; with a runner on second and 1 out in the 5th, he hit a 2-run homer to right; and with runners on second and third and 1 out in the 6th, he hit an RBI single to center.
