From exhibition games on the 4th:

Cincinnati Reds 3 - Seattle Mariners 1
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first (removed on defense in the 6th).  He weent 1-for-2 with an RBI: ground out to first, sac fly to center, infield single.

Texas Rangers 6 - Oakland A's 3
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fourth (replaced by a pinch-hitter in the 8th).  He went 0-for-1: walk, walk, strikeout looking.

Minnesota Twins 5 - Tampa Bay Rays 4
Tsuyoshi Nishioka started at short and batted second.  He went 1-for-3: ground out to third, ground out to third, single to left.  Nishioka also stole his first base (3rd inning, stole second) and committed his first error (1st inning, throwing error).

LA Angels 3 - Chicago White Sox 1
Hisanori Takahashi entered the game in the 5th, with the Angels up 1-0, and tossed a shutout inning in relief (1 H, 2 SO, 1 HBP).

KC Royals 5 - Chicago Cubs 4
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted first (removed on defense in the 6th).  He went 0-for-3: strikeout, ground out to first, fly out to left.


Ichiro Suzuki took 91 swings during BP on the 3rd and hit 12 over the fence.


Beginning on the 7th, the Oakland A's might start playing Hideki Matsui in consecutive games.


Daisuke Matsuzaka's workouts on the 4th included fielding practice and running.  He told reporters that he planned on trying out his off-speed pitches during his scheduled exhibition game start against the Florida Marlins on the 6th.


Kenshin Kawakami threw 23 pitches during BP on the 4th.
