Exhibition games on the 6th:

Oakland A's 5 - Milwaukee Brewers 4
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted 3rd (replaced by a pinch-runner in the 6th).  He went 0-for-3: ground out to first, GIDP, E6.

Minnesota Twins 3 - Baltimore Orioles 0
Tsuyoshi Nishioka started the game at second and batted 2nd (removed on defense in the 6th).  He went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI: ground out to short, RBI single to right, RBI triple to right-center.

NY Mets 6 - Boston Red Sox 5
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the 6th, with the Mets up 5-2, and tossed a shutout inning in relief (0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR).

Hideki Okajima entered the game in the 5th, down 5-2, and retired the side in order (0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB,0 SO, 0 HR).

Texas Rangers 8 - Milwaukee Brewers 1
Yoshinori Tateyama entered the game in the 4th, up 3-0, and gave up a run over an inning of work (3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR).

Chicago Cubs 5 - LA Dodgers 3
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted 1st (removed on defense in the 8th).  He went 1-for-4 with an RBI: E6, fly out to center, line out to short, RBI single to center.


Ichiro Suzuki took 53 swings during BP on the 6th and hit 8 over the fence.  He also took 36 swings (batting from the right) and 34 swings (batting from the left) during soft-toss BP indoors.


Kei Igawa arrived at the NY Yankees minor league complex on the 6th -- he got a physical and then did some running and played some catch.

Igawa - "If I'm going to be demoted to the minors anyway, I may as well start here and working on making sure I'm fully prepared [for any call-ups].  If I can put up numbers, I think I'll be able to play in the US next year as well.  I really want to have a good season."


Junichi Tazawa and Itsuki Shoda both tossed bullpen sessions on the 6th.


Hideki Matsui told reporters on the 5th he was happy to see the Matsuiland sign.
