Yomiuri Giants

Seth Greisinger is scheduled to start Wednesday's exhibition game.

Jonathan Albaladejo threw 43 pitches in the bullpen yesterday.  He also got some pointers on how to throw a splitter from pitching coach Isao Koda.

Albaladejo is competing against Daisuke Ochi, Tetsuya Yamaguchi, and Levi Romero for the closing job.  He will begin traveling with the team on the 11th.

Alex Ramirez told reporters after practice yesterday that he thought the new baseball was pretty hard to hit for a home run and that he didn't expect anyone to hit more than 40 homers this year.

Tatsunori Hara held a brief meeting on the field with the entire team before practice at Yahoo Dome yesterday.  While Hara wouldn't tell reporters what he spoke about, an unnamed club source said that Hara wanted the players to swing the bat with more authority.

Yakult Swallows

Yuki Shichijo (2nd round) will be starting Friday's exhibition game against the Yokohama Bay Stars (at Yokohama).  The Swallows are still uncertain where Shichijo fits into their plans this season (starter or reliever) and will continue to monitor his performance.

The Swallows' mascot Entaro might be at the end of his rope because he just isn't that popular.

Hiroshima Carp

According to Daily Sports, candidates for the starting rotation have been narrowed down to the following 8 pitchers: Kenta Maeda, Jumpei Shinoda, Yuki Saito, Keisuke Imai, Takeru Imamura, Giancarlo Alvarado, Bryan Bullington, and Yuya Fukui.
