3/10/2011: Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, Kosuke Fukudome

From exhibition games on the 9th:

Seattle Mariners 9 - LA Dodgers 4
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted 1st (replaced on defense in the 5th).  He went 1-for-3: E3, single to center, ground out to third.  Ichiro has hit safely in four straight.

Texas Rangers 9 - Oakland A's 2
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted 4th (replaced by pinch-hitter in the 8th).  He went 0-for-3: strikeout looking, foul out to the catcher, fly out to center.

KC Royals 13 - Chicago Cubs 4
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted 8th (removed on defense in the 6th).  He went 0-for-2: GIDP, fly out out center.

Practice lasted about 1.5 hours for Tsuyoshi Nishioka on the 9th and included taking grounder.

And after Tuesday's post-game interview, Ron Gardenhire showed the media two English - Japanese base-running signs that had the words "GO - IKE" and "STOP - TOMARE".

Koji Uehara will probably start throwing again on the 10th after he was shutdown with stiffness in his right elbow (he also got a cortisone shot on 3/3).  The plan at this point is for Uehara to pitch in 5-6 games (exhibition or minor league) before the regular season; the club will monitor Uehara's situation and decide when he'll pitch.

Takashi Saito's exhibition game start against the LA Dodgers on the 8th was apparently his first since 2005 (when he played for Yokokhama).
