Practice games from around the NPB: March 14, 2011

Practice games from today:

Softbank Hawks vs Hiroshima Carp (Mazda Stadium)

Nagisa Arakaki started the game for the Hawks and gave up 4 runs on 7 hits over 4 innings of play.  3 of the 4 runs he allowed came in the first inning on a 3-run homer by Takahiro Iwamoto.

Kyohei Nakamura tossed two shutout innings (did not give up any hits) for the Carp and topped out at 147km/h.

Toru Hosokawa got behind the plate for the Hawks beginning in the 6th inning and caught Shota Oba, Soichi Fujita, Takehito Kanazawa, and Masahiko Morifuku.

Rakuten Eagles vs Yokohama Bay Stars (Yokohama  Stadium)

Tomokazu Oka started the game and gave up 3 runs over 5 inningsBrent Leach followed and tossed 4 shutout innings.

Terrmel Sledge and Brett Harper each hit homers -- the offense scored a total 11 runs.

Takeshi Yamasaki was the starting DH and batted 4th; he hit a 3-run homers in the 4th.
