Earlier today, the Central and Pacific Leagues held individual meetings in order to discuss what to do about the start of the season. The Central League came away from their meetings intent on starting the season on the 25th while the Pacific League was leaning towards delaying the start of their season.
After the individual league meetings, a special board of directors meeting was held but a final decision could not be reached.
NPB Commissioner Ryozo Kato - "It has only been 4 days since the earthquake. Pro Yakyu needs to become a pillar of strength for the people of Japan. We need to support spirits of the Japanese people. We need to act as one and help lift everyone's spirits."
A second round of meetings will be held in the coming days to formally decide on when to start the season.
