Practice games from around the NPB: March 15, 2011

Practice games from today:

Ni-gun Hanshin Tigers vs Kishu Rangers (Naruohama)

The Tigers won the game 7-0.

Ikusei pitcher Koji Yoshioka started the game and did not allow a run over 4 innings of play -- he also struck out three in a row between the 3rd and 4th innings; and gave up a hit in every inning other than the 3rd.

Kenta Abe, 5th pitcher on record) entered the game in the 8th and tossed a shutout inning in relief.

Yomiuri Giants Ni-gun Intra-squad Game (Giants Stadium)

Hirokazu Sawamura (1st round) started for the red team and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings of work.  He also topped out at 151km/h; threw a wild pitch in the first; gave up a homer to Ryuichi Kajimae (started in left and batted 4th) in the 4th inning; and 5 of the 6 hits he allowed came off his fastball.  Sawamura threw a total 81 pitches on 12 days of rest.

Yuki Koyama (4th round) started the for the white team and tossed 4 shutout innings while topping out at 146km/h.

Seibu Lions Intra-squad Game (Seibu 2)

The game lasted only 5 innings after reports of slightly higher than normal radiation levels in the area (the game was supposed to go 8 innings).

Kazuyuki Hoashi gave up 4 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings and Fumiya Nishiguchi gave up 5 runs on 5 hits over 4 innings.

Yokohama Bay Stars Scrimmage (Yokohama Stadium)

Kota Suda (1st round), Koji Onuma, and Hiroki Sanada all made appearances -- Suda did not allow a run over 3 innings (but did give up 4 hits);  Onuma and Sanada each tossed a shutout inning.
