Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the 8th, with the score tied at 3, and gave up a run over an inning of work: 1 IP, 2 h, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR.  He was the losing pitcher on record.

Daisuke Matsuzaka is changing his workouts in between starts.  He is going to try long distance throwing 2 days after start and bullpens 3 days after starts, instead of long distance throws AND bullpens 2 days after starts.  Said Matsuzaka, "When I was in Japan, I did them separately, but [since coming to the States] I was doing them as everyone else was."

Hisanori Takahashi will be donating all money he makes during the off-season toward rescue and relief efforts in northern Japan.
