Practice games from today:

Orix Buffaloes vs Hanshin Tigers (Koshien)

Atsushi Nomi started the game for the Tigers gave up 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings of work.  He also topped out at 142km/h.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi entered the game in the 7th for the Tigers and retired the side in order after surrendering a lead-off homerTomoyuki Kubota entered the game in the 6th and tossed a 1-2-3 inning and struck out two.

Kyuji Fujikawa entered the game in the 8th and tossed a shutout inning in relief.  He did get himself into a runners on first and third, 2 out jam (single, wild pitch, walk), but managed to get out of the inning without giving up a run.  Fujikawa threw 31 pitches in the inning.

Kosuke Kato entered the game in the 9th with runners on first and third and 1 out (he relieved Ryuji Wakatake) and struck out Shinji Shimoyama (pinch-hitter) and Tomotaka Sakaguchi to end the game.

Wei-Chu Lin and Shunsuke Fujikawa went back-to-back in the 2nd with 1 out and no one on.  Yuki Nishi was on the mound for Orix.

Craig Brazell hit a solo homer in the 5th inning off Nishi.  With 2 outs and the count squared at 2, Brazell took a 144km/h fastball over the fence in right.

Mike Hessman was the starting DH and batted 6th; he hit a homer to left off Kobayashi in the 7th inning.

Yomiuri Giants vs Yokohama Bay Stars (Yokohama)

Seth Greisinger started the game for the Giants and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings of work.

Levi Romero was the fifth pitcher used in the game by the Giants; he tossed a shutout inning in relief.

Kentaro Takasaki started the game for the Bay Stars and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits over 7 innings of work.

Yoshiyuki Kamei went 1-for-3; Rusty Ryal went 2-for-2.

Yakult Swallows vs Seibu Lions (Jingu)

Hideaki Wakui started the game for the Lions and gave up 4 runs on 5 hits over 3 innings of work.  He also topped out at 148km/h.

Tatsuyoshi Masubuchi started the game for the Swallows and gave up 3 runs on 1 hit over 4 innings of work.

Yuki Shichijo was the second pitcher used in the game and tossed 4 shutout innings while giving up 2 hits.

Takeya Nakamura hit a 3-run homer in the 4th -- runners on first and second and 1 out, while trailing by 4.  Masubuchi was on the mound for Yakult.
