Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted 1st (replaced on defense in the 5th). He went 1-for-2 with a run scored: single to center (later scored), walk, fly out to third (with the bases loaded).
Florida Marlins 3 - Minnesota Twins 0
Tsuyoshi Nishioka started at second and batted 2nd (replaced on defense in the 6th). He went 2-for-3: single to left, single to left, ground out to the pitcher. Nishioka also extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
LA Dodgers 2 - Chicago Cubs 1
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted 1st (replaced on defense on the 7th). He went 0-for-3: fly out to short, strikeout swinging, ground out to second, walk.
Koji Uehara (right elbow tightness) pitched in a minor league game on the 22nd and faced 3 batters, threw 12 pitches, and struck out 1. Said Uehara, "I was able to throw at 70-80%. I wanted to see if I could throw. My body doesn't feel that bad. My thoughts are all focused on opening day."
Hideki Matsui had a little bruise (or cut?) on the bridge of his nose after he tripped and fell in his hotel room the night before. For practice on the 22nd, he took 50 swing for BP and also spent some time on a stationary bike. It seems his neck is feeling fine now (slept on it weird).
Yoshinori Tateyama told reporters on the 22nd that that he's beginning to regain his control after learning how to relax a little better on the mound.
Itsuki Shoda gave up a hit while pitching a shutout inning during a minor league game on the 22nd.
Tampa Bay Rays announced on the 21st that they'll be donating US$10,000 (~about 800,000 yen) to rescue and relief efforts in Japan. They will also be collecting donations during a three game series against the Baltimore Orioles (4/1 - 4/3)
