NPB schedule to return to “normal” beginning in May

by on Apr.04, 2011 @ 9:24 pm, under NPB

The NPB executive committee met today and confirmed that beginning in May, the schedule will return to "normal" -- as in the schedule will be played out as it currently stands (no changes).  Games that had to be canceled in order to accommodate for a delayed start will be shifted to the end of the current regular season schedule and will be announced at a later date.

The committee also confirmed that...

...the Climax Series will begin sometime around 10/29 (both leagues will begin at the same time).

...they will consider moving venues for two of their All-Star games (7/23 Tokyo Dome; 7/24 QVC Marine Field) if there are issues with energy consumption.

...all 12 NPB clubs need to make sure they have venues they can play in should they reach the Nippon Series (currently slated to begin on 11/12).

...they are leaning towards sending a team to the 2011 Asia Series.

...the draft will take place as planned, on 10/27.

Gambaro! NipponThe NPB also released the logo for the slogan, Ganbaro! Nippon (がんばろう!日本) today.  The logo will appear on batting helmets beginning on opening day (4/12).  Individual clubs will also be able to use the logo however they feel will help support the cause; and amateur baseball leagues / teams will be given permission to use the logo for free.

I think you need to make a correction here.

“…all 12 NPB clubs need to make sure they have venues they can play in should they reach the Nippon Series (currently slated to begin on 11/12).”

I believe a more accurate translation is:

“…other than Yokohama, all NPB clubs need to make sure they have venues they can play in should they reach the Nippon Series (currently slated to begin on 11/12).”
