Notes

An elementary school student from Natori, Miyagi threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  The student has been going to a school in Osaka as a transfer student since 4/8.  He also received an autographed Nintendo DS from Mamoru Kishida and said that even though he was a Rakuten Eagles he, he would start cheering for the Orix Buffaloes from now on.

Softbank: Kokubo was removed from the game after getting hit by a pitch on his right hand in the 4th. ... Wada was just 2 outs away from winning the game.

Orix: This is the first time an Orix opening day game ended in a tie since 1987 (when they were Kintetsu). ... This was Kisanuki's first career opening day start. ... Shunta became the first rookie outfielder drafted out of high school to make it into the opening day starting line-up since Isao Harimoto in 1959 (and 9th in the PL overall).  The last rookie to make it into the opening day starting line-up was Ginjiro (SEI) in 2006.
