Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons are three games under 500 for the first time since 5/16/2009.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers will be filing a complaint with the commissioner's office on Craig Brazell's pop out to second in the 7th inning of tonight's game against the Yomiuri Giants (the play was ruled an out even though the ball was trapped).

Takahiro Arai's comments on his younger brother, Ryota, winning last night's game:

I'm not really.  I don't know what to say. ... I think he did a really great job.  I'm happy.  After all, we won the game. ... But I never thought it would get to Ryota in that kind of situation. ... While on the bases, I just thought, "You better get a hit." ... I wonder if this is how [Tomoaki] Kanemoto ends up feeling [when I do something good].

Yomiuri Giants

Michihiro Ogasawara legged out an infield hit in tonight's game against the Hanshin Tigers in his last at bat of the game, snapping an 0-for-15 streak.

===

Tetsuya Utsumi volunteered to pitch out of the bullpen -- based on the current rotation schedule, he should have started tonight's game against Hanshin.

Hiroshima Carp

Jun Hirose is on fire: he has collected hits in all 8 regular season games so far.  He's also has three multi-hit games and 8 RBI.

===

The Carp have sole possession of first place for the first time since 4/4/2005.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Tomokazu Oka is struggling: in two starts so far this season, he has give up 10 runs (all earned) over 6 innings of work.  He has also given up 14 hits and 3 walks to 34 batters faced.

  1. Kyle

    Ohka has looked pretty bad since returning to Japan. Isn’t he signed through next season? I doubt he even starts next year.
