Softbank Hawks

In recording his first victory as a starter, Tadashi Settsu got 12 ground ball outs yesterday (including 3 double plays).

Hiroki Kokubo didn't realize he hit his 350th career double yesterday until he heard the announcement.  Kokubo is also 1 homer away from 400 and 127 hits away from 2,000.

===

Takahiro Mahara was taken off the active roster yesterday in order to give him some time to make adjustments to his mechanics.  In 5 outings this season, Mahara gave up 6 runs (all earned) on 9 hits  and 5 walks over 4 innings of work.

Seibu Lions

Yusei Kikuchi tossed a shutout inning in relief during a Ni-gun game against Yomiuri yesterday.  Kikuchi entered the game in the 6th; struck out one; and topped out at 147km/h.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yu Darvish threw 43 pitches in the bullpen yesterday.

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes showed off the retro uniforms (Hankyu uniforms from the 1970's) they'll be wearing on 5/7, 8 (vs Lotte at Hotto Motto Field) and 5/20, 21 (vs Hiroshima at Kyocera Dome) before yesterday's game against the Seibu Lions at Kyocera Dome.  Hiroshi Kisanuki and Yoshihisa Hirano modeled the uniforms.

Rakuten Eagles

Takeshi Yamasaki went 3-for-3 last night and has now hit safely in all of his team's 12 games this season.  He's also now 7 homers away from 400.

Senichi Hoshino told reporters after yesterday's loss that he wanted his players to show a little more grit and less finesse.  The actual quote:

It's like I'm watching the same play over [and over again].  It's like they're too easy-going...  I want them to stop with that already.

At 6-6-0, if the Eagles want to return to Sendai with a record above 500, they'll need to sweep their upcoming 2-game series against the Seibu Lions.
