4/28/2011: Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, Hisanori Takahashi

Seattle Mariners 10 - Detroit Tigers 1
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-5: line out to center, line out to center, single to center (run scored), ground out to second, RBI single to center (run scored).  Ichiro extended his hitting streak to 5 games.

Oakland A's 2 - LA Angels 1
Hideki Matsui (OAK) was the starting DH and batted fourth.  He went 0-for-4: walk, fly out to right, strikeout swinging, line out to left (vs Hisanori Takahashi), strikeout (foul tip).

Hisanori Takahashi (LAA) entered the game in the 8th, with the Angels down 1-0, and tossed a shutout inning in relief.  Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 13-10 NP-S, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO, 0 HR.

Baltimore Orioles 5 - Boston Red Sox 4
Koji Uehara entered the game in in the top of the 8th, with runners on first and second and no out and the Orioles up 4-1.  Uehara allowed both inherited runners to score when he surrendered a 3-run homer to the first batter he faced (Kevin Youkilis).  He then retired three of the next four batters to get out of the 8th with the game tied at 4.  The O's managed to score a run in the bottom of the 8th to give Uehara his first victory of the year.  Final line: 1 IP, 5 BF, 21-11 NP-S, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR.

NY Mets 6 - Washington Nationals 3
Ryota Igarashi retired the one batter he faced in the bottom of the 7th (runner on third, 2 out).  Final line: 0.1 IP, 1 BF, 4-2 NP-S, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO, 0 HR.

Takashi Saito will pitch at Triple-A Nashville on the 28th.  Assuming no problems after that game, he could be activated on either 4/30 or 5/1.  There was talk he could be activated as early as the 27th, but the Milwaukee Brewers want to make sure he's 100% ready before making the move.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Tsuyoshi Nishioka is continuing to make good progress.  A snip:

Nishioka played some catch Sunday and has done some work on both an underwater treadmill and a regular (dry-land) treadmill. The injury happened April 7, and the Twins said it would take the bone four to six weeks to heal.
