Former Chiba Lotte Marine, Takashi Kita, took a position as a teacher at his Alma mater, Chiben Gakuen Wakayama High School, in April. His coaching certification application with the Japan Student Baseball Association (JSBA) was formally accepted today.
Under section 3 of the requirements for returning to high school / university baseball, pro players must spent at least 2 years as a professor, associate professor, lecturer, or assistant teacher. Kita fulfilled this requirement by spending two years as an assistant teacher / baseball coach at Asahi University (2/2009 - 3/2011).
According to the JSBA, Kita is the first pro player to earn his coaching credentials under section 3.
