by on May.02, 2011 @ 2:56 pm, under NPB

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers will likely start Atsushi Nomi, Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi, and Minoru Iwata during their upcoming 3-game series against the Yomiuri Giants (@ Tokyo Dome).

Yuya Ando worked out at Naruohama today.  He is scheduled to toss about 100 pitches during his next rehab start on the 3rd (Ni-gun game vs Orix).  If he makes it through this start, the pitch count limits will likely be removed.

===

Matt Murton appears to be picking up some speed: he is 5-for-11 over his last 3 games and 13-for-37 since 4/20 (9 games including 4 multi-hit games).

===

Tomoaki Kanemoto hit his 416th career double in yesterday's game against the Yakult Swallows.  He needs just two more in order to tie Shigeo Nagashima for 6th on the all-time list.

Yomiuri Giants

Shun Tono will likely start tomorrow's home opener (Tokyo Dome) against the Hanshin Tigers.

===

Michihiro Ogasawara is 2 hits away from 2,000.

Yakult Swallows

Wladimir Balentien has his second 2-homer game of the season yesterday and now leads the NPB in home runs with 8.

===

The last time the Swallows were the first team to win 10 games in the Central League was back in 1997 when they finished 83-52-2 (good for 1st place).

Hiroshima Carp

Kenta Maeda started on four days of rest for the first time since October 7, 2009 (and 4th time in his career).
