Daisuke Matsuzaka tossed 38 pitches in the bullpen on the 4th in preparation for his start on the 6th against the Minnesota Twins.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka starting taking fielding practice on the 3rd (about a month after he fractured his left fibula).  Nishioka took grounders at both second and short and also took some light BP in the cages.  And according to the Star Tribune's Joe Christensen, Ron Gardenhire is having Nishioka takes grounders at short in case he wants to give him a shot at short because of Alexi Casilla's struggles (4 errors and a .194 BA and .257 OBP in 21 games).

Hideki Matsui collected two infield for the third time in his MLB career yesterday.  And the last time he did it was on 9/18/2004 (vs Boston).
