CL News and Notes: Chunichi Dragons to close out season with 13 straight games

Chunichi Dragons

Kazuki Yoshimi could start tonight's game against the Yakult Swallows.

The Dragons learned that they'll close the season out by playing in 13 straight games (from 10/4 until 10/16).  The Dragons had a day off on 10/13, but yesterday's rain out was shifted to that day.

Hanshin Tigers

Atsushi Nomi will be starting today's game against the Hiroshima Carp (his start yesterday was rained out).

The Tigers plan on playing Kenji Jojima in every game between today and the end of the Inter-league series.  That would be a total 43 games.

Craig Brazell took over 100 swings during BP yesterday.  He also celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday.

As of yesterday, Robert Zarate was scheduled to pitch in an Ikusei game against the Hyogo Blue Sandars today.  Zarata tossed situational BP on the 1st and this would mark his first outing in a game since joining the Tigers.

The Tigers are thinking about going with at least a 5-man rotation during Inter-league play.

Sanspo conducted a survey on Tigers' fans and found that about 31% approved of what Akinobu Mayumi was doing while 52% disapproved.  And most of the fans that disapproved felt that Mayumi's biggest problem was inability to make decisions (like how to use Tomoaki Kanemoto).

Hiroshima Carp

Bryan Bullington could become the first pitcher in the CL to begin the season with 5 wins in 5 starts.  It would also make him the first pitcher to do that since Leo Kiely won 6 games in 6 starts in 1953 (Mainichi Orions).

Yokohama Bay Stars

Takayuki Makka is planning on giving the game ball, from his first career victory last night, to his mother as a late Mother's Day gift.
