Takumi Akiyama got the day off from practice yesterday due to stiffness in his neck. Since Akiyama had a problem with his neck once before, the Tigers played it safe by having him checked out at a hospital. The assistant to the chief trainer told reporters that Akiyama was fine and that he'd be able to start throwing again once the stiffness went away.
