Chunichi Dragons

Motonobu Tanishige hit his first home run of the season tonight and has now homered at least once in 23 consecutive seasons, including his rookie year.  That ties an NPB record currently held by Hiromitsu Kadota and Isao Haritmoto.  Incidentally, Katsuya Nomura holds the record for consecutive seasons with at least one homer, not including their rookie season, with 25.

Hanshin Tigers

When Takahiro Arai was asked to comment on the triple he Thursday night, he said, "I look silly when I run, but I'm actually not that slow.  Did you not know this?"  When asked if the media was making too big a deal of the triple, Arai said with a smile, "No, by all means, make a big deal out of it."

Yamato injured his left shoulder while on defense during a Ni-gun game against Hiroshima today.  He was immediately taken out of the game and also removed from the active roster.  Chief trainer Tatsuzo Tsunekawa told reporters the team will decide on what to do with Yamato after he gets examined at a hospital; he also said that Yamato was complaining of pain in his entire left shoulder.

Yomiuri Giants

Today's Ni-gun game against Seibu:

Dicky Gonzalez started the game and gave up 4 runs on 9 hits over 8+ innings of work -- 3 of the 4 runs scored in the 3rd on 4 hits; the 4th run scored on a solo homer by Hiroshi Hirao in the 4th. ... Rusty Ryal was the starting DH and batted third; he hit a solo homer to left in his second at bat in the 4th. ... Shinnosuke Abe was the starting catcher and batted fifth.  He went 0-for-3.

Yakult Swallows

Yakult held a board of directors meeting today and unofficially announced that Yakult Honsha's senior managing director, Tsuyoshi Kinugasa, will be taking over as team president / acting owner.  The move will be made official during a special board of directors meeting on 6/22.  Current team president, Tadashi Suzuki, will stay on as a consultant.
