PL News and Notes: Rakuten Eagles make some coaching changes

Chiba Lotte Marines

Takashi Ogino was held out of the starting line-up again today with tightness in his right knee.  According to Norifumi Nishimura, the knee is showing improvement.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Sho Nakata extended his hitting streak to 12 games today.  He's 19-for-46 with 5 double, 2 triples, 4 homers, and 17 RBI during that span.


Yuki Saito's rehab today included playing catch at a distance about 5 meters further apart than yesterday and lower body strengthening exercises.

The Eagles announced the following personnel changes in the coaching staff after today's victory against the Chiba Lotte Marines:

Koichi Isobe: Ichi-gun assistant batting coach > Ni-gun batting / OF coach

Yasuo Nagaike: Ichi-gun INF / base-running coach > Ikusei coach (in charge of position players)

Koichi Sekikawa: Ni-gun OF / base-running coach > Ichi-gun OF / base-running coach

Hitoshi Taneda: Ni-gun INF / base-running coach > Ichi-gun INF coach

Atsuhiro Motonishi: Ichi-gun OF / base-running coach > Ichi-gun assistant batting coach

Makoto Kosaka: Ikusei coach (in charge of position players) > Ni-gun INF / base-running coach

Koju Hirohashi: Ikusei chief coach > Ni-gun batting coach

Takeshi Yamasaki's RBI infield single in today's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines (top of the first inning) broke a streak of 66 consecutive innings without a timely hit.
