Notes

Hanshin: The Tigers have now been shutout 3 games in a row and have not scored a run in 32 innings.

Softbank: The Hawks sent 9 players to the plate in the 6th inning.  Hawks' starts have also tossed three straight complete game shutout victories (Houlton, Yamada, and now Sugiuchi). That ties a franchise record last set in 1971 (3 games beginning on 9/19): Kiyohiro Miura, Mutsuo Minagawa, and Sanshiro Nishioka. The Hawks are the first team in the NPB to win 20 games this season. ... This was Sugiuchi's second complete game shutout in a row and fourth complete game of the season (all coming in his last 4 starts). It was also his 16th Inter-league victory and 16th complete game victory.
