Hanshin Tigers

Takashi Toritani played in his 1,000th career game today.  He also extended his consecutive games streak to 921.

Owner Shinya Sakai was in the stands for the last two games and had nothing to say to the media after last night's shutout loss.

Tomoaki Kanemoto has been left out of the starting line-up in each of Yasutomo Kubo's starts.  While the Tigers have denied any connections, it hasn't kept fans from wondering if there's more to it than just a coincidence.

Yakult Swallows

Shingo Kawabata was removed from tonight's game on defense in the 1st inning due to discomfort in his right hamstring.  Kawabata complained of the discomfort after fielding a grounder (off Nobuhiro Matsuda's bat) with 2 out and a runner on second.  UPDATE 5/23 @ 12:52am - Kawabata fouled a ball off his right hamstring during a game on the 15th and sat out until the 20th.  He'll be taken off the active roster on Monday.
