Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons took Joel Guzman off the active roster today due to his struggles at the plate: 15-for-106, 44 SO, .142 / .200 / .217.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers' starting rotation is 0-5 over the team's last 7 games.

Atsushi Nomi will likely get tomorrow's start against the Rakuten Eagles.

Haruki Kurose started at short and batted third during a Ni-gun game against Chunichi today and went 1-for-2 with a walk.

Matt Murton on throwing the ball into the stands with only 2 outs:

This is something I have never ever done in my career.  It's something that should never happen.  I have, however, seen it happen before.  And back, I thought how in the world could something like that happen...  I checked the batter, the count, and the wind...  I checked the runner and was thinking about where the ball should go based on where the ball was hit.  For some reason, in all of that, I completely forgot to check the most basic thing, the outs.  I have no excuses. ... I want to apologize, not only to my team mates, but also to the fans.  If not for that run, we may have had a better chance to tie the game.  And I was thinking about count...  Making mistakes is part of the game, but that isn't one of them.

Incidentally, it seems GM Shoji Numasawa sat down with Murton to find out exactly what happened during the play.

Yomiuri Giants

Daijiro Tanaka worked out for about 2 hours on his day off today -- including things like practicing his swing and lifting weights.

Injury update: Michihiro Ogasawara did some running and took some BP (soft toss, bunting in the cages) during his workout today at Giants Stadium.

Yakult Swallows

The Swallows held full-team workouts today at Jingu Stadium.

Hiroshima Carp

Kenta Maeda will likely start Sunday's game against the Nippon Ham Fighters.  Maeda is looking to become the first starter in the Carp rotation to record a victory since Bryan Bullington on 5/5 (vs Yokohama) -- that's a span of 14 games in which starters have gone 0-5.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Norihiro Nakamura took 109 swings during BP today and hit 28 over the fence.
