Enyelbert Soto will probably be added to the active roster today.
Yasutomo Kubo will likely start tomorrow's game against the Rakuten Eagles.
Nikkan Sports reports that Takashi Toritani's nail has gotten better to where he can play catch and make strong throws during fielding practice. The article goes on to say that he could see a start at short during the 2-game Rakuten series, depending on how he's feeling after pre-game practice today. Sanspo notes that it's likely Toritani will be the starting DH.
Kenji Jojima tried to keep things light with regards to his back problems and jokingly told reporters it was part of some sort of team strategy and that the trainers were lying. Jojima got treatment on his back yesterday before heading out to Sendai. He was also supposed to join the other players in visiting Iwanuma, Miyagi yesterday, but he was dropped from the plans at the last minute.
Jojima also plans on playing today.
Team chairperson Tsuneo Watanabe told reporters he wasn't concerned about the team's performance right now and that he was certain they would have a miraculous October, like when the team won 12 in a row in September 2008 (12-0-1 between 9/11 and 9/24).
The Swallows announced they'll be hosting Netto Toughman Day: You're the Toughman on 6/4 (vs Nippon Ham). The first 5,000 fans to the game will get a free health drink from Yakult called Toughman. Shiro Ito (an actor that also appears in sales materials for the drink) is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
