Yuki Karakawa will likely start tomorrow's game against the Yomiuri Giants. It will be his first start against the Giants since 5/20/2008 (4.2 IP, 13 H, 3 SO, 0 BB, 6 R, 6 ER).
Toshiaki Imae was the runner on second base when Matt Murton mistakenly tossed the ball into the stands in the 8th inning with 2 out. Imae later told reporters he had no idea what happened (he didn't see Murton thrown the ball into the stands and the third base coach signaled him home) and only found out once he returned to the dugout.
Nippon Ham Fighters
Yuki Saito did some light exercises today (includes running and trunk exercises) in preparation for his first rehab start tomorrow (Ni-gun game vs Yomiuri at Giants Stadium).
The Buffaloes announced they'll be hosting Nishi Ward Day on 6/8 (vs Yakult at Kyocera Dome). Fans that live, work, or go to school in Nishi Ward will receive a discount on same-day tickets for the game.
Takahiro Shiomi will likely get tomorrow's start against the Hanshin Tigers.
The Eagles held full-team practices at Kleenex Staadium today (excluding the foreign players and Takeshi Yamasaki). Teppei stayed back for extra BP (about 40 minutes); Suguru Ino and Toshihito Abe also joined the Ichi-gun roster for practice.
Slightly old news (reported back on 5/17 by Sponichi): 28-year-old Dae-Ho Lee (KBO) is supposed to earned his FA option this season and has expressed interest in playing in Japan. The Eagles sent a scout to Korea early this month to check on Lee and see if he might be a viable option for the team next season and to show Lee (indirectly) that they're interested in him.
