Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 0-for-4: ground out to second, ground out to second, double play, ground out to first.  According to Nikkan Sports, Ichiro is currently on pace to collect 184 hits this season.

Chicago Cubs 3 - Pittsburgh Pirates 2
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-4: fly out to left, double to right (run scored), ground out to second, single to right.


Buffalo Bisons 2 - Gwinnett Braves 1 (Game 2 doubleheader)
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the top of the 5th (runners on first and second, 1 out), with the Bisons up 2-1, and did not allow a run over 1.1 innings of work. Final line: 1.1 IP, 6 BF, 27-16 NP-S, 2 H, 0 R,0 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR.

Daisuke Matsuzaka left for the US today out of Narita Airport.  Matsuzaka supposedly got treatment for his right elbow during his stay in Japan and will now head to LA to see Dr. Lewis A. Yocum.


Hiroki Kuroda participated in a charity event before Sunday's game (5/29) to help raise money for Joplin tornado victims.
