Jose Ortiz played in a San-gun rehab game today against the Kagawa Olive Guyners (IL) and went 2-for-5 (DH, batted 4th).
Ginjiro currently has the highest batting average during Inter-league play so far: 14-for-33 (.424 / .441 / .576, 6 RBI), followed by Yasuyuki Kataoka (16-for-39, .410 / .477 / .576, 4 RBI). Hiroyuki Nakajima (14-for-41, .341 / .400 / .634, 14 RBI) and Takeya Nakamura (12-for-43, .279 / .311 / .512, 11 RBI) hold the top two spots in RBIs.
Nippon Ham Fighters
Masaru Takeda had gone 5 straight starts with o run support. The offense finally "turned it on" for Takeda when it scored a run in the bottom of the 5th inning yesterday to give him a 1-0 victory over the Hiroshima Carp.
The Fighters announced that they'll be hosting a quiz (Otakara Get! "Quiz Hunger") during games on 6/11 and 6/12 (vs Yokohama at Sapporo Dome). Fans that answer all 5 questions correctly will get get entered into a drawing for a chance to get tossed up into the air by Fighter players during Fan Festival at the end of the season.
Chan Ho Park was taken off the active roster today in the hopes that he'll be able to turn things around by making some adjustments at Ni-gun. This marks the second time Park has been taken off the active roster this season (the last time was on 5/12 and he returned on 5/22).
Chihiro Kaneko worked out with the Ichi-gun roster at Hotto Motto Field today. The Buffaloes are expected to activate Kaneko at some point over the next couple days.
The Eagles held full squad workouts today (with the exception of the older veteran players). Senichi Hoshino watched over the players and told reporters that he actually wanted to give everyone the day off, but the coaches pushed for the practice session.
